Frequently asked questions
You do not need a foundation with your mattress, all our mattresses can be placed directly on the floor or a firm surface, but we do recommend them. Placing your mattress directly on the floor can lead to dirt and moisture build-up, resulting in premature wear and tear.
Box springs were once popular, they’re now a less desirable option, as they’re not compatible with Air or Foam beds. Foam beds need a solid or slatted foundation to rest on, so they work best with more modern mattress foundations or even bed frames like platform beds.
Mattress foundations are either slatted or solid and do not contain coils, so they provide more even support than box springs. Box springs provide bouncy, spring like support for your mattress through a combination of coils and wood slats.
Box springs are best suited for spring mattresses, whereas all other mattress types are best supported by more modern mattress foundations.
